Q: Who founded The Chocolate Bar? A: The founder is Naheed Ahmed, a trained chocolatier and chocolate maker who trained and worked in Cape Town, South Africa for 4 years before returning to Kenya. He has been passionate about making chocolate since 2011. The Chocolate Bar - Nairobi

Sourcing & Quality

Q: Where do you source your cocoa from? A: We source the finest cocoa from Uganda and Tanzania from small holder farmers. Our cocoa is sourced from fair trade and organic certified sources. GreenspoonThechocolatebar In Uganda, 700+ families of small holder farmers have been positively impacted, and in Tanzania, 2000+ small holder farmers grow cocoa for a living. Q: Do you support fair trade practices? A: Yes! We pay higher than market prices for cocoa, encouraging small holder farmers to grow high quality cocoa. Our cocoa suppliers follow fair trade standards to ensure farmers succeed and build a future for generations to come. GreenspoonThechocolatebar

Q: What is your chocolate-making process? A: We sort cocoa beans, removing deformed ones and selecting healthy beans that get roasted following different roast profiles depending on origin. We then winnow (separate nibs from husks), grind and conch the cocoa for 24-48 hours to achieve smooth, delicious craft chocolate. Finally, we temper and set the chocolate into various molds. Q: What ingredients do you use? A: We source only the finest quality ingredients. Most are locally sourced like sugar and milk powder. Some ingredients are imported from trusted and established brands worldwide. We transform cocoa beans to chocolate by adding simple ingredients such as sugar and milk powder.
